One More Monument / 2007

This was my contribution to the Agorafolly exhibition in Brussels 2007. The starting point for the piece was the European Union and the role that Sweden plays in that context. One artist from each country in the European Union was asked to make a piece for a square in Brussels. My square – Place Poelart – was created by Ludwig II, and it bears traces of conflicts and reconciliation. There are two monuments dedicated to the victims of the two world wars located on the square.

My piece was called One More Monument and consisted of a nine squaremeter flagstone made from Swedish primary rock (Black Granite). Since the granite was polished it served as a mirror, reflecting the image of the two already existing monuments. The Granite-plate had the following inscription:
IN HONOUR OF THE FUTURE VICTIMS OF SWEDISH-MADE WEAPONS
